Edit menu provides some different type of function which is used while you want to make modification on your document like undo, redo, cut, paste, find and replace etc.

This is a basic edit menu guide in illustrator for beginner, there are also some common functions so we will not discuss about them.

Paste in front, back, place and artboard

These are used to paste a copied object on the canvas but their orders are different. Some time you need duplicate copy of same object at same place on different order like front of object or back of object so we use paste front and back.

When apply place and artboard function, your object will paste on same place as the copied area. If you have moved your object, this function places object at the same location of copied point, it will also paste at same place in new document.

Clear

Clear function is just like delete, it can be applied on selected object and path which you want to remove from canvas.

Edit Colors

This function is used when you want to change color of selected object or text. If you have worked in Photoshop, it will show you easiest to work. There are given some different type of color filter that performs to change the color.

Transparency Flattener Presets

This function is used when you want to import and export document, you can import and export document in different settings. As you click this option, a pop up will appear and you have to adjust the setting as you need then press “OK”.

Print Presets

This function is used to make print presets setting to get best result of work. If you have done already print setting for preference, just select the setting in opened pop up window then press “OK”.  

Adobe PDF Presets

This function contains a group of settings that is used to apply different type of setting in your PDF file. These settings provide an ideal settings for document like balance size, file quality and actual color as you required in the document.

Perspective Grid Preset

By the help of perspective grid you can easily draw exact line, shape and represent any scene on different angle of surface like horizontal, vertical and flat.
There are given three types of perspectives in Perspective grid presets options. You can apply any one of them and customize also.

Color Settings

You can change the color settings of the document by using this function. As you select this function, a pop up will appear on the screen. There are given different standard of color setting and you can choose as you required.

Assign Profile

If you want to change the document profile then you have to choose this function, there are given two by default and one option can be customize.

Keyboard Shortcut

It is a diary of all the keywords, there are defined a separate shortcut keys for some function of tools and menu as given in the illustrator program.  

Preferences

This function provides you some different setting like general display, file-saving, performance, type, and options for plugins and scratch disks that are used to adjust the command and panel settings. In the preference dialog box you can adjust their settings as you need but it can be used only before get quite the program.
